Convicted Sex Predator Found After Manhunt; Wife Accused of Hiding Him

The wife of a convicted child sexual predator was arrested Tuesday and charged with hiding her husband from authorities before he could be sentenced in his criminal case.

Authorities issued a warrant for Shawn Lipsey, 40, on Jan. 13 after the Plano man failed to appear for a sentencing hearing at the Kendall County courthouse, Kendall County sheriff’s police said in a statement.

Lipsey had been convicted last November of six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecent solicitation of a child, police said.

Kendall County authorities and the U.S. Marshals Service launched an investigation to find him, and learned this week that he may have been staying at the home of his former wife, police said.

A SWAT team searched the residence in the 500 block of East Broadway Street in Newark on Tuesday and found Lipsey in a specially constructed hidden room, police said.

His wife, 40-year-old Raissa Jarosz-Lipsey, lived in the house and is accused of helping him evade capture, police said.

Jarosz-Lipsey was charged Tuesday with felony charges of obstructing justice and concealing or aiding a fugitive, and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report, the statement said.

She was ordered held on a $500,000 bond and is being held at the Kendall County jail, police said.

Lipsey is being held without bond, and will appear for a sentencing hearing in the sexual assault case on Friday.
