FBI Employee Allegedly Pulls Gun on Woman at Restaurant in Hingham, Massachusetts

The victim knows the FBI employee, police say

An FBI employee was arrested after allegedly pulling a gun on a woman while he was drunk at a restaurant in Hingham, Massachusetts.

Hingham police responded to Gourmet Garden Restaurant before 9 p.m. on Tuesday. A witness reported that 55-year-old James Doyle had aimed a gun at a female customer's head.

Authorities say Doyle appeared to be drunk when they arrived, and that he had a holstered handgun.

Doyle had a license for the weapon, police say, but he was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm while intoxicated and disorderly conduct.

"The FBI takes allegations of misconduct very seriously," Special Agent in Charge Harold Shaw said in a statement to necn. "This matter has been referred to the FBI's Internal Investigations Section in Washington, DC, as well as the Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General."

The victim and Doyle know each other, according to police. The woman was not injured.

Doyle was released Tuesday evening and scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Hingham District Court. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
