Flight from South Carolina to LaGuardia Diverted After Cabin Loses Pressure

The plane was traveling from Charleston International Airport to LaGuardia

A flight from South Carolina to New York City was diverted Monday morning after the plane lost cabin pressure, forcing scared passengers to wear emergency oxygen masks until the aircraft touched down, officials said.

A spokesman from Endeavor Air, the airline that was operating Delta flight No. 4058 from Charleston to LaGuardia Airport, said that the plane made a landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport when the cabin lost pressure shortly after takeoff Monday morning.

The loss of pressure caused emergency oxygen masks to drop from overhead compartments. Passenger Lindsay Ann Branciforte posted a photo to her Facebook and Instagram pages while wearing one of the masks.

"Not cool with the emergency landing and oxygen masks at 7 a.m.," she said in the caption. "But thanks for getting us on the ground safely."

The plane, which was carrying 62 passengers and 4 crew members, landed without incident, according to the spokesman. Passengers were able to book flights to LaGuardia or other destinations.

Branciforte said she was able to book a flight to Toronto after the scare.

The plane was being evaluated by maintenance technicians Monday.

"The safety of Delta's customers and crew members are our top priority," the spokesman said.

Endeavor Air, a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, operates 150 regional jets that travel to more than 100 cities in the U.S. and Canada, according to their website.
