GOP-Led House Votes to Crack Down on Undocumented Kids

The GOP-led House voted Friday night along party lines to crack down on undocumented immigrant children in the United States — first passing a $694 million bill to boost border security, then voting to end President Barack Obama's deportation relief program for immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally when they were children. With the first move, House Republicans voted to change the 2008 law that protects undocumented children in order to speed up their deportations, and with the second, they voted to bar Obama's 2012 executive action that deferred deportation proceedings. Obama decried the bills Friday. "They're not even trying to solve the problem," he said.
