1 Week Late: Christie Meets Homeowners Hit by Sandy

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is set to speak to Superstorm Sandy victims one week after the meeting was hastily canceled because of a scandal over traffic jams that appear to have been manufactured by his aides.

Christie and Community Affairs Commissioner Richard Constable III are slated to announce a Sandy housing recovery milestone in Manahawkin Thursday as the governor seeks to put the scandal behind him.

Homeowners were waiting at Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company 1 last week when the event was scuttled.

Christie instead appeared at a news conference and announced he was firing a top aide who he said had lied to him. The governor also denied involvement in the scheme which led to the closing of access lanes to the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee.

The meeting is set to begin around 10:30 a.m.
