Marlin Detective Placed on Leave for Facebook Post

A police detective in Marlin, Texas, has been placed on administrative leave after allegedly using Facebook to complain about people on public assistance.

The Waco Tribune-Herald reports that Rob Douglas will remain on leave while authorities conduct an investigation.

A post on Douglas' Facebook page expressed frustration about grocery shopping on the first of the month. It spoke of seeing people on public assistance or food stamps, and complained that some have tattoos and expensive car accessories.

The post referred to "useless lazy turd bags" and ended, "If I ever snap and go on a killing spree, it will be in a supermarket on the first."

Marlin City Manager R.C. Fletcher said he was made aware of the post Sunday.

Douglas has been with the Marlin Police Department for five years.
