Orangutan Shot by Poachers Submits to Exam

An endangered orangutan, pictured in the photo, was rescued at the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Center in Indonesia after being shot with air gun metal pellets. The center has cared for over 280 orangutans rescued from palm oil plantations, poachers and pet owners, NBC News reported. The primate population is shrinking rapidly due to poaching and rapid destruction of their forest habitat as it is converted into palm oil plantations.
