4 Dead, 5 Injured After Plane Crashes at Kansas Airport

A small plane crashed into a two-story building at Mid-Continent Airport in Wichita, Kansas, on Thursday, killing at least four people, including the pilot, and injuring five others, NBC News reported. An airport spokesman said "approximately" 100 people were in the FlightSafety International building at the time of the crash and officials said they believe everyone in the building has been accounted for. One witness said the plane was "just sitting on top of the building on fire" as a "black, hazy smoke" billowed into the air. The pilot of the plane reported losing engine power just after takeoff at around 10 a.m. ET and struck the roof of the building while trying to return to the runway, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
