Parents of NBC Freelancer With Ebola: “His Spirits Are Better”

An American cameraman freelancing for NBC News who tested positive for Ebola in Liberia remains in good spirits, his parents said. "He was more cheerful today," Ashoka Mukpo's father, Dr. Mitchell Levy, told "Today's" Tamron Hall on Friday. Mukpo, 33, was hired Tuesday to work with NBC News Chief Medical Editor and Correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman on assignment in the Liberian capital Monrovia, reporting on the Ebola outbreak. Mukpo came down with symptoms Wednesday and immediately quarantined himself before testing positive Thursday. NBC News will fly Mukpo, Snyderman and the rest of her crew back to the U.S., where Mukpo will be treated and the others will be quarantined for 21 days. Snyderman told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Thursday night that she and the rest of the crew show no symptoms of Ebola, and that the risk of getting others sick when they return to America is minimal.
