Police Shoot New Jersey Man Who Tried to Run Over Officer: Cops

Officers were responding to reports of an erratic driver in Fairfield

A 46-year-old man was shot by police in New Jersey Saturday after authorities say he attempted to run over an officer with his car.
 
According to officials, officers responded to reports of an erratic driver in Fairfield at around 5:30 p.m. and when they arrived Jefferey Harris, of Lafayette, rammed his pickup truck into a police squad car and then attempted to hit an officer with his vehicle.

The officer opened fire, striking Harris in the head.

Harris was airlifted to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition with a graze wound to his forehead. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and eluding police.
