Obama Slammed as ‘Part-Kenyan' Hypocrite by London Mayor Over Brexit

Mayor Boris Johnson says Obama is is asking the British people to accept a situation that he patently would not recommend to the American population

London's mayor is accusing President Barack Obama of an "incoherent" and "perverse" intervention in the country's so-called Brexit debate after urging British voters to remain in the political bloc, NBC News reported.

In an op-ed article in The Daily Telegraph published as he arrived in London Friday, Obama said the outcome of the vote "is a matter of deep interest to the United States."

European coordination on intelligence sharing, counterterrorism and economic growth "will be far more effective" if Britain stays in the EU, Obama wrote.

Mayor Boris Johnson, who is leading the anti-EU campaign, accused the president of "hypocrisy" and speculated that "part-Kenyan" Obama was expressing an "ancestral dislike of the British empire."

Britons will vote on whether to stay in the European Union or leave in a June 23 referendum.
