Obama: GOP Border Bill “Extreme and Unworkable”

President Barack Obama on Friday slammed House Republicans for blocking his plans to improve the economy and for the impasse in the border crisis, as the GOP was still working to pass a revised bill that will add $35 million for states to address the influx of undocumented immigrants. Obama said the GOP was trying to pass the "most extreme and unworkable bills" on immigration. Speaking from the White House Friday as Congress started its five-week summer break, the president also praised the advances in the U.S. economy, but called on lawmakers do more to accelerate its growth. He also called for the unconditional release of the Israeli soldier captured in Gaza, if Hamas wants to resolve the conflict.
