Ohio Pastor Shot, Killed During Sunday Services

An Ohio pastor with deep roots in the Dayton community was shot and killed at the pulpit during Sunday services at his church.

A man whom witnesses identified as the pastor's brother was taken into custody.

The Montgomery County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 70-year-old William B. Schooler. Schooler was pastor of St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church, where the shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m.

Schooler was past interim president of the Dayton school board and current president of the local Baptist ministers union.

An official police statement had not yet been released.

Witnesses said about 20 people were inside the church and the choir was singing when the suspect walked up to the pastor and fired two shots. Parishioners were reported streaming out of the church after the shooting.
