Girl Struck in Face By Paintball Rounds Fired Into Soccer Practice

Paintball rounds from a black Cadillac Escalade also were fired at signs, houses and vehicles near the park

A 9-year-old girl was struck in the face when paintball rounds were fired from a sport utility vehicle and into a crowd during a youth soccer practice at a Southern California park.

Several people at Koehler Park in Fontana were struck Monday night by the paintballs, police said. The girl was struck as she was on the soccer field during practice and suffered minor injuries, police said.

Police responded to the park at about 8 a.m. Monday after a report of someone firing paintballs from a black Cadillac Escalade. Paintball rounds also struck houses, vehicles and signs near the park.

Four boys accused of shooting rounds from the SUV were booked into Juvenile Hall and face charges for assault with a deadly weapon, according to a statement from the Fontana Police Department. Police didn't give the boys' names because of their age.
