Queens Man Accused of Punching, Choking Pit Bull Pup: DA

Prosecutors say a Queens man has been arrested on animal cruelty charges, accused of kicking, punching and choking his pit bull puppy.

Eric Ranger, 26, was arrested Wednesday on aggravated animal cruelty and other charges.

He is accused of repeatedly punching, choking and kicking the small black dog. Neighbors told police they heard the dog crying in his apartment.

Prosecutors say a police officer saw Ranger punch the dog, causing it to fall to the ground.

Police raided his home in the Jamaica neighborhood Wednesday and found the dog inside an upside-down milk crate that was being weighed down by two cases of soda.

It was not immediately clear whether Ranger had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
