Saudi Arabia Executes Prince for Murder: Official Media

Most people who face the death penalty in Saudi Arabia are beheaded with a sword

A Saudi prince was executed on Tuesday after pleading guilty to killing a fellow Saudi after a brawl, official media reported, according to Reuters. Prince Turki bin Saud al-Kabir was found guilty by the court and serves as a rare example of a ruling family member subjected to execution.

The statement made by the ministry of interior did not say how the prince was killed. Most people who face the death penalty in Saudi Arabia are beheaded with a sword.

The ruling family is rarely faced with execution, one of the most prominent examples being Faisal bin Musaid al Saud, who assassinated his uncle, King Faisal, in 1975. While the ruling family is estimated to have several thousand members, only few hold nationally relevant government positions.
