Severe Rainstorms Pounding Middle East Causes Fatal Flooding

On Wednesday and Thursday, cities from Egypt to Iraq—a region hit by 120-degree temperatures three months ago— has been experiencing extreme weather causing flooded roads, power outages and several deaths.

Water and mud in Baghdad swamped makeshift tents for refugees who fled from ISIS in other parts of Iraq.

Cities in Israel have also lost power after the storm knocked down trees onto power lines. In the Gaza Strip, people were still living in caravans after losing their homes by last year's conflict. Other Gazans have cut their own electricity so they would not be electrocuted.
