A 17-year-old charged in the fatal stabbing of a fellow student at a Houston-area high school is set to be back in court Friday.
Luis Alonzo Alfaro was to appear before a state district judge in a Houston courtroom on Friday. He made an initial court appearance a day earlier.
Alfaro has been charged with murder in Wednesday morning's killing of 17-year-old Joshua Devon Broussard. He's jailed on a $150,000 bond.
Alfaro has told investigators the altercation began when he bumped a different youth in the school cafeteria.
But Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators say gang rivalry appears to be the motive in the slaying at Spring High School in Spring, a Houston suburb about 20 miles north of Houston.
Classes have been canceled at the school until Monday.
