Trump's First Foreign Trip as President Will Take Him to Saudi Arabia, Israel, the Vatican

Trump has said he wants to serve as a "mediator, arbiter or facilitator" to help Israel and Palestine reach a peace accord

President Donald Trump is headed to Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican this month on his first foreign trip since taking office, Trump said Thursday.

Speaking at a event about religious freedom, Trump touted a "truly historic gathering" of Muslim leaders from around the world he'll attend in Saudi Arabia, where the leaders will discuss the fight against "extremism, terrorism and violence, and to embrace a more just and hopeful future for young Muslims in their countries."

The trip will end with the president visiting NATO in Brussels on May 25, then a meeting at the G7 summit in Sicily.

Trump hosted Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian leader, on Wednesday, when he said he wants to serve as a "mediator, arbiter or facilitator" to help Israel and Palestine reach a peace accord.
