'Your Uber Chopper Has Landed': Airbus to Offer On-Demand Helicopter Services

Is sitting in the back of a Suburban during rush-hour traffic not glamorous enough for you?

Dream of getting to your destination faster, with scenery and sky-high style?

Well, sir, your Uber chopper has landed.

European aircraft maker Airbus is teaming up with ride-hailing service Uber to offer on-demand helicopter flights.

In a statement, Airbus said its new Silicon Valley-based innovation centre "is collaborating with terrestrial mobility provider Uber on a market pilot to provide an on-demand transportation service."

The service will be tested at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, "to evaluate demand and user preferences," the statement said. The independent film festival kicks off on Jan. 21.

The aerospace giant will be be providing rides on its H125 and H130 helicopters. It didn't give an indication of what their likely prices would be.

It isn't the first time that Uber has flirted with helicopter-hailing flights. The company has previously provided "UberChopper" services at the CES tech show in Las Vegas, the Cannes Film Festival and at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. [[365652821, C]] [[365652751, C]]
