Utah Kidnapping Suspects to Fight Extradition

They were ordered held on $750,000 cash bail until their next court appearance

The father and son accused of kidnapping and assaulting a family of five over the weekend will fight extradition from Wyoming back to Utah, where authorities say the crimes took place, NBC News reported.

In their first court appearance Monday, Dereck Harrison, 22, and Flint Harrison, 51, were ordered held on $750,000 cash bail until their next court appearance, Centerville Police Lt. Von Steenblik said in a statement.

Steenblik also said that the Harrisons "chose not to waive extradition" to Utah — meaning they vowed to fight leaving Wyoming.

Also Monday, authorities released audio from the 911 call that alerted law enforcement in Davis County, north of Salt Lake City, to what was later described as a plot to lure a mother and her four daughters — ages 13 to 18 — to a fake barbecue last Tuesday.

Once the family arrived, they were taken to a basement and bound with duct tape and zip ties; the mother was beaten with a baseball bat.
