West Point Bans Cadet Pillow Fights After 30 Injured

Pillow fights involving cadets will now be banned at West Point, U.S. Military Academy officials said.

The move comes after a bloody fight left 30 injured this summer. On Aug. 20, the fight escalated into a free-for-all, with plebes being hit from behind and knocked to the ground. Injuries ranged from a broken nose, a fractured cheek and 24 concussions.

Actions are being pursued against many of those involved, according to The Associated Press.

The annual pillow fight is organized by first-year students, known as “plebes,” to build camaraderie after a grueling summer of training.
