Woman Removed From Southwest Airlines Plane for Poking Snoring Seatmate With Pen

A passenger aboard a Southwest Airlines flight leaving Chicago was removed from the plane Thursday after officials said she poked her seatmate with a pen to stop him from snoring.

The woman was aboard Flight 577 scheduled to depart from Midway International Airport at 3:04 p.m. heading to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport when the incident occurred, airline officials said.

The plane was still at the gate when the woman tried to silence her snoozing seatmate by poking him with a pen, Southwest spokesperson Brandy King told NBC Chicago.

β€œThe flight departed shortly after the passenger was removed,” King said. β€œThe passenger in question will be accommodated on a later flight.”

King said no arrests were made and there were no injuries reported.
