Woman Hanged Her 2 Dogs and Buried Them in Yard: Police

Police in Bristol, Connecticut, have arrested a woman who is accused of killing her two dogs and then burying them in her yard.

Police were investigating a separate complaint on Monday, Nov. 23, when they obtained information that Veronica Reyes, 22, might have killed the staffordshire terriers, according to the Bristol Police Department.

A neighbor called police when she said she saw the dogs hanging from a tree.

“I thought it was awful that anybody could do that to an animal,” the witness said. “I just can’t imagine how you can put something around a dog’s neck and let them go.”

The witness said Reyes was outside watching the dog hang before putting it into a trash bag.

“She looked like she was waiting for it to die,” the witness said.

With the witness' tip and a necropsy report, police determined Reyes killed the two dogs by hanging and then buried them on her property, police said.

Police obtained a warrant for Reyes and arrested her Friday on the outstanding warrant.

She has been charged with two counts of cruelty to animals and is being held on a $10,000 surety bond.

She will be arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on Tuesday. It was unclear Friday if she was being represented by an attorney.
