Candidates Rally in New Hampshire Ahead of First-in-the-Nation Primary

Sunday was just a year and 17 days ahead of  the next presidential inauguration, and four candidates were out in full force leading up to New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary on Feb. 9.

The two leading the Democratic pack, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, made several campaign stops in the Granite State, as did Republicans Marco Rubio and Chris Christie.

"I'm asking for your support in this primary," Clinton said to a crowd.

"We can and must do better," Sanders said.

In the seas of supporters were plenty of undecided voters, hoping to use events like these rallies to come to a decision before the primary.

"I'm very disappointed in all political parties right now, so I just want to kind of find out what's going on with him," said Patricia Finch, who came to Newmarket to learn more about Sanders.

Unlike so many in the crowd, Finch doesn't toe a party line.

"I've still got a couple on the Republican side I'm looking at," she said. "I'm looking at Bernie. Yeah, I just have not quite made up my mind yet."

Sean Neubert brought his young family to Clinton's rally in Derry Sunday, but don't let his presence at a Democratic rally fool you - he's is a Republican trying to make the right choice.

"I'm definitely interested in Rubio, Trump, definitely Bernie Sanders – I'd like to hear more of what he has to say," he said.

Neubert wasn't the only Republican at the rally. New Hampshire State Rep. Katherine Prudhomme O'Brien became the first heckler Clinton had to deal with in 2016, telling NBC News that she was trying to ask about former President Bill Clinton's past sexual impropriety.

People in New Hampshire were looking for that one thing that drives them to one candidate. But for Jenny Chu, at the Clinton rally, there wasn't just one thing, and it left her undecided.

"I don't know who to vote for, so I want to see all of them," Chu said.

For her to help elect the first woman president is important, she said, but Clinton needs to show other presidential qualities to win Chu's vote.

"I'm not voting for Hillary because she's just a woman. I mean, if she doesn't have a good plan and strategy for improving the economy or keeping us safe, there is no way I'll be voting for her," she said.
