First Couple Set to Tap Bay Area ATM

While Southern California will get the glam and glitzness of Sarah Palin and her fancy vocabulary,  the Bay Area will have to settle for President Barack Obama and his wife.

The first couple will both be in the Bay Area next month to help raise funds for gubernatorial hopeful Jerry Brown and the Democratic National Committee, according to Matier and Ross. The Chronicle reporters report that they have it on good authority that the Obamas will swing a West Coast swing.

But the power couple won't be a couple at all when in the Bay Area. The two will travel to the area separately on back to back visits, further adding to conspiracy theories -- if they exist at all -- that the president and his wife can't be in the same room.

Mr. Obama is scheduled to arrive on Oct. 21 while Mrs. Obama will arrive to the Bay Area on Oct. 25. She will attend the Democratic National Committee fundraiser before traveling to Los Angeles to raise money for Sen. Barbara Boxer.

The visit will be the president's third visit to the Bay Area since taking office. That's three more than his predecessor managed.
