Kamala Gets a Presidential Boost

San Francisco District Attorney Kalmala Harris is getting a big endorsement in her run for state attorney general.

President Barack Obama says he is supporting Harris over Republican Steve Cooley.

It's not the first time the two have paired up for political gain. Harris co-chaired Obama's California campaign for president two years ago.

In a mass email, Obama says Harris has "done a remarkable job in San Francisco," and cites projects Harris launched or helped facilitate during her time in San Francisco, including early intervention programs for repeat offenders, the Child Sexual Assault unit and Environmental Justice Unit.

Obama says Harris understands the needs of all American and he needs allies like her fighting for change across the country.

Cooley is getting support from newspapers throughout the state. The Bakersfield Californian, Fresno Bee, LA Times and Sacramento Bee have all endorsed Cooley.
