The San Francisco Chronicle has a story about San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, that links them to the Deep Water Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.
It says the couple owns a piece of Transocean Inc, which is the company that owns the ruptured rig. BP leased the rig from Transocean.
The investment was made, according to a recently filed economic disclosure statement obtained by the paper, by Siebel-Newsom's trust. The filing shows the Transocean transaction was made just a couple months after Siebel turned 35 and took control of trust.
It wasn't clear the exact amount of money invested in Transocean, but it was somewhere between $10,000 and $100,000.
