Oops. San Francisco Supervisors Forced to Cancel Meeting

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors meeting was canceled Tuesday after it was discovered that a notice about the meeting had not been published in a local newspaper.
Angela Calvillo, clerk of the board, apologized this afternoon at 2 p.m., at what would have been the start of the board's first meeting after
a month-long hiatus.
"Due to a technical error, the clerk of the board did not publish the agenda for today's Board of Supervisors meeting in the designated
official newspaper" of the City, Calvillo said.
The City charter requires that notices of regular meetings be published 36 hours in advance. If Tuesday's meeting had gone ahead in violation of the charter, Calvillo said, action taken on items on the agenda could be invalidated.
One item that had attracted attention was a proposal by Supervisor John Avalos to charge a fee on alcoholic beverages sold in the city in order to recover money the city spends on emergency transport and medical treatment for those suffering from alcohol-related conditions.
Local bars and restaurants have opposed the proposal, which will likely be heard at next week's meeting.
