Sen. Bernie Sanders Hosting Rallies in Northern California

U.S. Sen Bernie Sanders will host rallies in California's capital and in Stockton next week, according to a press release sent by the campaign.

The Vermont senator, fresh off his victory in Washington, is hoping for a landslide win in California to close former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's huge delegate lead.

His first rally will be Monday at Sacramento's Bonney Field at Cal Expo, located at 1600 Boulevard. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Stockton's rally will be held Tuesday at Weber Point Event Center at 221 North Center Street. This event starts a little earlier, with doors opening at 7 a.m

Admission to the events is free, but RSVPing via the campaign website is advised, the press release noted. Lines are expected.

Both Clinton and Sanders have made the Bay Area ground zero for their California campaign efforts, choosing to open offices in Oakland earlier this month.

The Sanders campaign said the senator is expected to come to San Francisco or Oakland ahead of California's June 7 primary, but could not yet release a date, while Clinton on Friday spoke to a large crowd at an Oakland Elementary School and held an evening fundraiser in San Francisco.

Early voting starts as early as May 9 in some Bay Area counties. Voters must be registered by May 23 to participate in the primary.
