Trump Dismisses Talk of Brokered Convention

The chances of Trump winning the nomination or the GOP’s having a brokered convention could increase dramatically if the GOP field does not consolidate behind one or two alternatives in the coming weeks, NBC News reported.

A brokered convention would occur if no candidate has the required amount of delegates to secure the nomination, leading to a battle on the convention floor in July to choose a nominee.

Trump dismissed that notion, calling it “unlikely.” Marco Rubio also dismissed talk of a brokered convention.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said the party would support any nominee, but would be prepared for anything.

"Planning can mean a lot of things. We're prepared for anything," Priebus told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “This Week.”
