49ers Memorabilia Heads to SFO for New Exhibit

Super Bowl 50 might be months away, but the San Francisco International Airport Museum is already gearing up for the game.

The museum recently acquired memorabilia from the 49ers Museum for a new exhibit titled “The Nation’s Game: The NFL from the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” which will be showing at the airport from Sept. 26 through Feb. 28.

A number of artifacts from the team’s history will be on display, including the now iconic helmet-shaped 49ers Field Vehicle, as well as team memorabilia from the 1960s and 1980s.

Non-49ers football fans will also have something to look at during their visit to the airport, museum officials said in a statement. In an effort to honor the NFL’s 95-year history, mementos from each of the league’s 32 teams will be on display. Fans can see Joe Montana’s home jersey, Terry Bradshaw’s cleats, Jim Brown’s shoulder pads and other items on loan from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The San Francisco Airport Museum was established by the Airport Commission in 1980 as part of efforts to humanize the airport environment, according to the museum.
