49ers' Westbrook Seeks Payback on Former Team

Jed Jacobsohn

You can bet that San Francisco 49ers running back Brian Westbrook circled Sunday, Oct. 10 on his calendar when the 49ers signed him in mid-August. It's the day he gets his shot at the Philadelphia Eagles, the team that cut him last spring.

You can bet that San Francisco animal rights activists circled that day, too, but then lost interest when Michael Vick was declared injured for the game with bruised ribs. Vick will not play Sunday.

The 49ers go for their first win on NBC's Sunday Night Football when the Eagles come to Candlestick for a 5:20 p.m. contest. Believe it or not, the 49ers are three-point favorites to win.

Good news for San Francisco Giants fans, as the Giants' Game 3 of the NLDS should not overlap with the 49ers game. With a 1:37 p.m. PDT start time, the Giants game should be finished by the time Dan Patrick and the "Football Night in America" team come on with the day's NFL scores and highlights.
