Andres Torres is one of the bright spots of a very shiny season for the San Francisco Giants.

First and most importantly, he turned out to be a heck of a lead-off hitter and helped the team get into the playoffs for the first time since 2003.

He also won the prestigious Willie Mac award for being the most inspirational player on the team.

And if the above club house photo is any indication, he is about to become a Bay Area heart-throb.

Torres was shirtless during pre-playoff game interviews Wednesday and as you can see  he has quite the six-pack.

Raj Mathai noted the sight caused a "situation."   Which caused the sports department to compare Torres to "The Situation."

The Situation is someone on MTV's Jersey Shore. He is also currently competing in "Dancing With the Stars."  His real name is Mike Sorrentino, but he calls his abs "the Situation" because every time he walks in a room he says they cause "a situation."

Even with his shirt on, Torres has been a fan favorite all year.  He has high energy, is always smiling and he takes time  to sign autographs.

Torres will get the offense started Thursday night as the lead-off man once again when the Giants take on the Atlanta Braves at AT&T Park.  First pitch is 6:37 p.m.

Lori Preuitt helped with a sports pre-game Giants broadcast earlier in the season and found Andres Torres to be the nicest of all the Giants.
