Torres to DL, Brandon Belt Recalled (Again)

Stop me if this sounds (too) familiar: Brandon Belt was called up to the big-league level by the Giants on Saturday.

This time, Belt's ascension from Fresno is a result of Andres Torres, who fouled a ball off his shin on Friday, heading to the disabled list.

Which is (maybe) good news, since Carlos Beltran's not headed to the disabled list. But it might just be "necessary news" instead -- Torres' injury required an immediate trip and thus the recall of Belt.

In other words, there's no guarantee that Beltran's not headed there either.

He won't go on Saturday, though -- Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury-News notes that both Beltran and Belt are listed as extras on the lineup Saturday.

There's probably a rant here about how the team should stop jerking Belt around (or, alternately, just nickname him "Yo" or something equally/more clever) and let him produce at one level or another.

But at this point, with the team still scuffling as bad as it has all season, any offense produced by anyone on the active roster is worth whatever it might cost.
