A's Bolster Bullpen with Fuentes

Merced's own Brian Fuentes has signed a 2-year deal with the Oakland Athletics, according to ESPN and Bleacher Report.

Fuentes, 35, played for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Minnesota Twins. having a decent year at 4-1 with a 2.81ERA in 48 appearances.

The A's bullpen is getting a little full, with Fuentes added as a possible insurance policy at the closer position. The real battle for him, though, might be the eighth inning if Billy Beane decides to stick with his plan of using fragile Andrew Bailey in the ninth.

ESPN also reports on Saturday, the A's agreed to terms with righty submariner Brad Ziegler on a $1.25 million, one-year contract to salary arbitration.
