Cal kicks off the 2010 season this Saturday against the University of Colorado. The non-conference matchup became more interesting after the CU Buffalo's handily beat Colorado State last Saturday.
The game is a sneak peak at what will be a Pac10 rival come 2012.
The two teams have only met four times with the series tied at two wins each. The last time they played was back in 1982 when our own Brent Cannon was a member of the team.
Because they plan on joining the PAC (number to be named later), CU made a tour across the state this week. CU alum totals 23,000 here in California and many of them couldn't be happier that the are joining the Pac10. Team officials started in San Diego and Los Angeles and ended with two events in San Jose and San Francisco. CU-alum Cannon hosted the Bay Area events and recalled his years as a punter.
Practice for Colorado was anything but normal as they prepared for Cal. Smoke from a devastating wildfire in Boulder made breathing difficult for players. The team says while they are in California, their thoughts and prayers are with people back home who have been devastated by the fires.
CU promised they will have a presence this weekend at the Coliseum. Some 7,000 tickets have been sold to Buff fans. The Bay Area has a surprisingly high Buff fan-base.
