Giants Fans Flock to AT&T Park for FanFest

Better get in line early for for a World Series champ's autograph.

Pack your sunglasses and your patience if you are among the tens of thousands of Giant fans who will be making their way to FanFest today. The high could hit 70 degrees and the wait time for a photo or autograph could be measured in hours.

The World Champion San Francisco Giants are expecting to draw at least 40,000 people to AT&T Park Saturday for a little taste of what it means to be a World Champion.

That's more than a sell-out and four times the number of some previous fan festivals. What a difference a World Series makes eh?

FanFest 2011 is a time for baseball lovers to spend a day at the ballpark for no charge. They will be able to walk pretty much every inch of the park, including the field and the dugout.

The Giants PR folks are promoting it this way:

Grab autographs from Giants players past and present, snap a picture with the World Series Trophy, walk the field, sit in the dugout, get up close with players and coaches at the Q&A Stage and don't forget to bring the kids to the Junior Giants Zone.

Lots of players will be on hand giving interviews that will be piped throughout the stadium. KNBR radio personalities get to do the honors right at home plate and the list of Giants who will be part of the day includes Buster Posey, Tim Lincecum, and Brian Wilson.

The gates open at 11 a.m. and they will try to get everyone headed out by 3 p.m.
