There was a special buzz in the air Monday night at AT&T Park, and not just because it was the renewal of the Giants-Dodgers rivalry. The place was electric because Barry Bonds returned to the "House he Built" to watch the Giants beat the Dodgers 5-4.
Bonds surprisingly made his way out to the owner's seats near the Giants dugout in the first inning. Once the crowd realized he was there, they gave him a standing ovation, as he waved to the crowd. It marked the first time the home run king attended a Giants game since last summer.
In March, Giants owner Bill Neukom told NBC Bay Area's Sports Director Raj Mathai, that Bonds is a part of the organization. He added, he wants him to have a more prominent role with the team.
As for the game, Barry Zito looked strong early, before faltering down the stretch. Zito lost a 3-0 lead, and saw the Dodgers eventually take a 4-3 lead in the 7th inning.
The Giants battled back, scoring two runs in the 8th inning to pull out the win. It capped a great night at the Park for the fans...beat L.A., and see their hero as a bonus.
