Cal Coach Gets London Gig in 2012

Cal swim coach Teri McKeever got a well deserved appointment Wednesday.

Team USA Swimming officials announced she is their choice to lead the U.S. Olympic swimming team in the 2012 London Games. Gregg Troy will coach the men's team.

"Our goal at the Olympic Games is to put our athletes in an environment where they can be as successful as possible, and Teri and Gregg are the right coaches at the right time to lead Team USA to success at the Olympic Games in London."

McKeever will be the first female head coach of a U.S. Olympic swimming team. This will not be her first time to the Olympics. She was on staff twice before.

McKeever is well known among swimming circles in California, but became known around the world through her work with Olympic star Natalie Coughlin
