Eichfeld, a native of Drums, Pennsylvania, began competing internationally at 14 years old, eventually moving to the canoe double (C2) with friend and 2008 Olympian Rick Powell. Eichfeld and Powell finished 11th overall at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. In 2012, Eichfeld paddled in the canoe single (C1) and earned a spot on the London Olympic team. The two-time Olympian has now partnered up with Devin McEwan in the C2. “Devin and I have worked hard and look ahead to all the training and racing we can get as a young team,” exclaims Eichfeld. Recently, he finished seventh in the C1 and 11th in the C2 with McEwan at the 2016 Oceana Championships. Eichfeld has officially qualified for Olympic selection and will join Team USA in Rio.
