Ellis Drops 44 in Loss, Hardly Shocking

Warriors lose for 14th time in 16 games

The Warriors have been too much of a one-trick pony this season and they rode it again to yet another loss.

Monta Ellis had 44 points -- nine straight during a key stretch in the 4th quarter -- leading all scorers, but the visiting Houston Rockets prevailed with a 121-112 win.

It was Ellis' third 40-point game of the season and he added seven assists.

Nonetheless, the Warriors lost for the 14th time in 16 games. It was also their sixth loss out of the last seven at Oracle Arena after starting the season 5-0 at home.

Guard Stephen Curry, who has been out with an ankle injury, could return to action for one of the next couple of games -- Saturday against Portland being the most likely scenario, but it could be sooner. Center Andris Biedrins, nursing a sprained left ankle, was also out of action on Monday night.

Golden State gets a chance to rebound tonight in Sacramento when they visit the Kings.
