Oakland Raiders cornerback Chris Johnson has left the team after his sister was murdered and his mother wounded, according to reports.
Jennifer Johnson, 33, was allegedly murdered in Fort Worth, Texas, by the father of her 2 1/2-year old child, Eugene Esters, according to reports. Della Johnson, 53, was also shot by Esters but is expected to survive, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
The child was unharmed. Johnson flew to Texas to be with his family, according to reports.
Raiders coach Hue Jackson said Johnson "handled it like a man" when informed of the news.
Johnson is expected to play Sunday when the Raiders travel to Green Bay to face the undefeated Packers. Johnson received heavy playing time in the Raiders' 34-14 loss at Miami last week.
