A mother and son are sought in connection with a fight in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium that seriously injured a man after a Major League Baseball playoff game Friday, according to Los Angeles police.
The department's elite Robbery Homicide Division is investigating the fight, which broke out in Parking Lot L after the Dodgers-Mets game. Police said surveillance videos might provide a better description of the attackers, but Chief Charlie Beck confirmed Tuesday that police are looking for a mother and son in connection with the attack.
"We believe it is a son and a mother who are responsible for this assault," Beck said. "We believe that the weapon used was hands and feet."
Beck said more details were expected in "a very short time" and urged anyone in Park Lot L at the time to contact Los Angeles police. He did not provide the ages of the mother and son and detailed descriptions of the attackers were not available at Tuesday's police news conference.
Police had not interviewed the victim as of Tuesday morning, Beck said. A friend of the victim told NBC4 the fan is from Bakersfield and that he is still in the hospital.
Police said the victim is listed in "critical but stable condition."
The assault comes about five years after a violent confrontation in a Dodger Stadium parking lot that left a San Francisco Giants fan in a coma. Bryan Stow, who suffered severe injuries after the Opening Day game, won an $18 million judgment against former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt last year over security issues in the parking lot after games.

Since Stow's attack, the LAPD and the Dodgers organization have worked to increase patrols, both with officers and private security.
"This is a very unusual occurrence. Since Bryan Stow, we have enhanced stadium security significantly," Beck said. "But it is a big facility, and you can't be everywhere all the time."
Beck did not have arrest figures for Dodger Stadium available at Tuesday's news conference.
The Mets won the opening game of the National League Division Series to the New York Mets, 3-1 The series would return to Dodger Stadium Thursday for Game 5, if the Dodgers win Tuesday night's game in New York.
"We will be a presence, there will be a sea of blue," Beck said.
