    Barry Zito got into trouble early, allowing a leadoff single to Chris Denorfia and a single to David Eckstein. Adrian Gonzalez was intentionally walked to load the bases. Zito then walked back to back batters to walk to two runs for the Padres.

    Bruce Bochy got thrown out of the game by the homeplate umpire for arguing the strike call on Buster Posey.

    The Giants will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to have a chance to clinch the N.L. West. The Padres can force a playoff game on Monday if they win tomorrow.
