    Jonathon Sanchez takes the hill for the Giants on Fan Appreciation Day to help his team clinch the N.L. West.

    The Atlanta Braves beat the Phillies Sunday afternoon, which means the Giants must win today to avoid a "play-in" game tomorrow in San Diego.

    TOP 1ST SUMMARY: 

    Chris Denorfia lead off the game with a single, but Jonathon Sanchez quickly retired the next three Padres to end the inning.

    BOTTOM 1ST SUMMARY:

    Andres Torres lead off for the Giants with a single to right. Freddy Sanchez  hit into a double-play for a quick two outs. Aubrey Huff followed with a two-out single, but Buster Posey flew out to right to end the inning.

    Sanchez was in trouble early with two runners on, but struck out Mat Latos to get out of the jam.

    The Padres threatened again with two out and a runner on third with Adrian Gonzalez at the plate. Gonzalez was intentionally walked. Jonathon Sanchez got Ryan Ludwick swinging to end the inning.

    Padres left fielder Jerry Hairston Jr. made a great catch running full speed into the wall to rob Pablo Sandavol of extra bases. Jonathon Sanchez helped his own cause by cranking one into triples alley. Freddy Sanchez drove Jonathon Sanchez in with a clutch two-out single up the middle. Aubrey Huff followed with a double to deep left center, scoring Freddy Sanchez from first. Buster Posey grounded out to second to end the inning.
