It's the end of an era in San Jose.
You can no longer call the arena in San Jose the HP Pavilion. The signage was removed Monday morning. Workers took down letters one by one, starting with the "n" and finishing with the "HP."
Locals will continue to call it the "Shark Tank," but the official name has now been changed to SAP Center.
The San Jose Sharks have come to a five-year agreement with SAP. The annual payment to San Jose will be $1,675,000, with total revenue of $8,375,000 over five years, according to the city.
The arena used to be named Compaq Arena, then it changed to HP Pavilion when HP acquired Compaq in 2002. Now SAP has stepped in.
SAP would like us to say each letter out, but some are already calling it the sap center, as in sappy.
