Help Comes Through for 49ers' Playoff Hopes

The San Francisco 49ers may have been hung by the chimney with care Thursday night against the Chargers, but they still have visions of playoffs dancing in their heads.

That's right, everything just happened to work out perfectly in Sunday's NFL results for the 49ers' scenario to still win the NFC West division title with a sterling 7-9 record. St. Louis lost big to the Chiefs, and the Seahawks were creamed by Atlanta.

And so the 49ers are still just one game out of first place in the NFC West with two games remaining, one of them a head-to-head this Sunday against the division-leading Rams.

They need to win out, and for Seattle to lose at least once.

Hey, the San Francisco Giants' playoff chances looked a lot worse that that 13 days before the end of their 2010 regular season. And those guys ended up winning the World Series.
