Earlier this year, Pat Burrell's career was in jeopardy and his life was at a crossroads.
"I really don't know what I'll do when I'm done with baseball," Burrell said in May. "It's a little scary."
What a difference a few months (and a World Series trophy) makes.
The San Jose Mercury News is reporting the Giants have agreed to a one-year, discounted deal for the 34 year-old outfielder. Perhaps Burrell will be a role player coming off the bench -- or even compete for the starting spot in left field.
Either way, Burrell's presence in the Giants Clubhouse was -- and is -- invaluable. His 18 home runs were also a major source of power.
The Giants will finalize this deal as early as Thursday afternoon.
