Lee Cuts Down Giants in Phillies Debut

It was fitting that on the day of Major League Baseball's trade deadline, the game versus the Giants and Phillies would be about both teams' major midseason acquisitions. However, it was for very different reasons.
Two days after trading for Freddy Sanchez, the Giants still did not have their infielder in the lineup Friday night at AT&T Park.
Meanwhile the Phillies started newly acquired Cliff Lee on the mound, and the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner proceeded to mow down the San Francisco lineup.
Lee threw a complete game for his new team, allowing the Giants just one run on four hits and two walks, while striking out six. The lefty even had a no-hitter through five and a third innings.
Jayson Werth took care of the offense for Philadelphia. The right fielder hit a solo homerun of Ryan Sadowski in the second, and added a pair of RBI with a single in the seventh, as the defending World Series champs knocked off the Giants, 5-1.
As for Sanchez, he was at the ballpark before Friday's game, and will be available for Saturday night's game in a pinch-hitting role. The former Pirate is expected to be in the starting lineup when the Giants and Phillies wrap up their series on Sunday afternoon at China Basin.
